Modern aspects of psychopharmacology

On May 1–4, 2019, a 4-day training course “Modern Approach to Psychopharmacology” was held at the Mental Health Center. Aydan Ismayilova and Ulkar Mamedova were the trainers. Psychiatrists and neurologists from different regions of the republic took part in the training, at the end they were awarded certificates. This training was accredited and gave participants 12 credits. In the near future, training is planned with new topics.

ConLiGen-Workshop by Thomas G. Schulze

Training on the role of Lithium in the treatment of bipolar affective disorder by Professor Schultz, who was invited from Germany on January 10, 2019, by AR MH MHC. Lithium researchers from around the world have formed the Consortium on Lithium Genetics (www.ConLiGen.org) to establish the largest sample to date for genome-wide studies of lithium response in bipolar disorder, currently comprising more than 1,995 patients characterized for response to lithium treatment. A stringent phenotype definition of response is one of the hallmarks of this collaboration. ConLiGen invites all lithium researchers to join its efforts.

International Conference

July 6, 2018, an international conference was held on the organization of psychiatric care in our country and in Israel. The conference organized by the Center for Mental Health of the Ministry of Health discussed issues of national policy and organization of services in the field of mental health in Azerbaijan, legal aspects of organizing mental health services in Israel, etc. An introduction was made to Dan Stav, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the Republic of Azerbaijan. As well as with different topics, the chief psychiatrist of Baku, the director of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Fuad Ismailov, the deputy director of the MHC Rustam Salayev, the chief psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, professor Teimur Kafarov, the deputy director of the Israeli MHC, Dr. A. Teitelbaum, M. Kalyan, General Director of the International Azerbaijan-Israel Association Mr. Lev Spivak and others.

26th European Congress of Psychiatry

3-6 MARCH, 2018 - The 26th European Congress of Psychiatry was held in Nice, France. The theme of the Congress will be "Mental Health - Integrate, Innovate, Individualise". A special focus of the Congress will be the integration of new technologies and research findings into person-centred approaches to prevention, care and training, at a time in which difficult challenges, such as displacement, war, terrorism and economic constraints, require new answers.

The Congress will bring together expert clinicians, researchers and leaders of stakeholder organisations in the field of mental health, offering an outstanding set of Plenary and State of the Art Lectures, Educational Courses, Symposia, Workshops, informal meetings with experts and sessions designed by and for early career psychiatrists. Among introducers of Azerbaijan instead of Geray Geraybeyli, the president of Azerbaijan Medical University there were director of the AR MH Mental Health Center- professor Fuad Ismayilov and the director of the Rehabilitaion unit Roya Aliyeva.

DanceAbility

03 February, 2018 Inclusive DanceAbility class was held at National Mental Health Center. The workshop explores different movement qualities and spontaneous acts. Tools of DanceAbility method will be given to improvise and find intuitive/impulsive approaches to movement creation. It is done in duet, trios and the whole group. Instead of using words we use the language of the body to communicate.

Influence of news about suicides to mind of people

Rustam Salayev, deputy director of the Mental Health Center, says that the Internet, social networks do not allow people to find a sense of comfort, and they get more negative information with this tool. According to the psychologist, a person who is depressed may be suicidal at the last moment. Psychosocial asisstance for survivors of human trafficking

On December 7-9, 2017, the next meeting entitled "Psychosocial assistance to persons rescued from Trafficking in Human Beings" was held within the training on Trafficking in Persons. Psychiatrists and psychologists from various regions of Azerbaijan, clinical psychologists of AR SN Mental Health Center Aygun Sultanova and Gunel Valimammadova, head of the Department of Emergency Psychological Unit, psychiatrist Kamala Talibova, social worker Aynur Hajiyeva attended the meeting.

Mental Health Program of WHO Regional Office for Europe

The WHO Regional Office for Europe, Division of Noncommunicable Diseases and Promoting Health through the Life-course, Mental Health Programme, organised the meeting “Reflecting on shared experiences; Planning the way forward” as part of the WHO Project on adults with mental disabilities living in institutions in the European Region, hosted by the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health in Lisbon, Portugal, on 20–21 November 2017. The purpose of the meeting is to capture the learning from the assessment phase of the project and inform the planning of follow-up action. The meeting brought together national team leaders from 13 participating countries, partners from the Picker Institute Europe, and WHO staff from Headquarters and WHO Regional Office for Europe. Azerbaijan was represented by the director of Mental Health Center, prof.Fuad Ismailov.
