ABOUT US

The National Mental Health Centre has been established in 2012 in the framework of the National Mental Health Strategy by initiative of the Ministry of Health.

The main activities of the Centre include the followings:

  • Provision of psychiatric, psychological and psychosocial care
  • Participation in development and implementation of governmental policy in the field of mental health
  • Monitoring of mental health indicators at population level
  • Development of human resources in mental health
  • International cooperation

The Centre's activity is implemented at two levels

At the first level it is intended to develop the new services including early intervention, day care, psychosocial rehabilitation and crisis intervention.

The second level is related to organization and functioning of mental health system in whole. Epidemiological data collection and analyses, planning and implementation of new services, monitoring and quality management and training of various mental health professionals are carried out at this level.

The Mental Health Centre team develops new approaches towards care provision meeting international standards to achieve their goals. It also fruitfully cooperates with leading international institutions and exchanges experiences on establishing modern services. In addition the staff of the Centre provides consultations to other specialists working in the country, carries out service monitoring, gathers statistical information and gives trainings to advance workforce in mental health.
